Beginners

Rowing is simply the best sport in the world! There is a place in it for you, no matter the level of participation you want. If you want the occasional Sunday morning outing, that's fine. If you want to push for international selection that's fine too.
Rowing uses all the body’s big muscles, which need to be supplied with oxygen. That means you can give your heart a good workout without trying too hard! Two or three easy paddles per week is all the exercise you need to keep your heart healthy.
Here at the Park we start beginners out in stable training boats belonging to the National Rowing Academy. Once you have mastered the basics we move you on into racing shells supported by experienced club members. As your skills develop you will progress to complete independence in the single scull. This takes a while.

And how much does this cost? Initially, nothing at all for under 18s, a small charge for adults joining one of our RowStart classes. Take a look at the Membership page to see what’s available once you are up and running.

You probably have lots of questions to ask. Most of them have been asked before! Try downloading our
FAQs file. For more info about beginners' courses, or if you think of any new questions, then Contact Us .
